The Baby is Moving !

This is really exciting as this is our first time having a baby. Now, the baby will be moving and kicking inside the womb everyday. This is what the midwife told us this afternoon during our regular check up. If the baby is not moving in certain day, she advice my wife to drink cold water so that to wake the baby up and eventually he/she will start moving again. If not we really need to see the Doctor. Its a great experience to feel the movement of the baby for me and even more for my wife. Its like the baby is communicating us. During the check up we can also hear the baby's heart beat, beating so fast. Alhamdulillah everything is doing just fine and both baby and mother is healthy. Just can't wait to see the baby. Now the pregnancy is in the 27th week or nearly 7 months.
Here is some description on how the baby develops in the 27th week:

Your not-so-tiny anymore brilliant baby (about 2 pounds and 14.5 inches long) is slowly rotating in preparation to "head out". Obviously, this doesn't happens overnight , but when you start to feel unfamiliar pressure on your cervix, you'll know you've got a fully flipped baby locked and loaded for the countdown to their birthday! Even now, at the beginning of the 3rd trimester, their little lungs are already capable of breathing air while the pulmonary vascular system can provide sufficient gas exchange and the central nervous system can generally regulate rhytmic breathing as well as their basal body temperature. For what it's worth, at this point in a healthy pregnancy a premature child (with intensive care) could easily win the show: "Survivor: The Early Years". -baby-gaga.com-

2nd Scan: 20 weeks

Last Monday 28 September 2009 @ 1.00 PM my wife and I went to Gentofte Hospital for my wife's 2nd ultrasonic scan to see the condition of my baby inside the womb. Now the fetus is 20 weeks old or 5 months. The scan started by examining the baby's brain and we can see the serebrum and serebelum, then the nurse move to the baby's kidney and then the heart where we can see 4 compartments of the heart which is normal and we can also hear the heart beat !. Besides that, she also examined the baby's bones (nose, back, legs and arm bones) and everything seems to be okay according to the her. Other than that, another important observation is the upper lip to check whether the baby have a cleft lip or not and Alhamdulillah this is also okay. It is very exciting to the see the baby moving inside the womb ! The nurse said it was hard to see the baby's lips as he/she keeps on turning his/her head. Maybe the baby is too shy hehe. Before ending the scanning process, the nurse asked us whether we want to know the baby's gender or not. Of course we do hehe. Luckily she was able to predict the baby's gender and the baby is a...? I'm not going to tell about it yet hehe, its a secret. However the most important thing is that everything is okay and the baby is normal.

Below are some general information that I get from babycenter.com about how my baby is growing @ 20 weeks.

How your baby's growing: Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.) He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Jeruk Buah Pala..

Saya sendiri tak tahu bagaimana perasaan orang mengandung yang mengidam ni, tapi alhamdulillah orang rumah saya ni tidaklah serius sangat kot. Nak minta orang Malaysia poskan cempedak macam tak sesuai pula. Tapi rasanya dah ada jeruk buah pala ni pun dah cukup. Boleh saya menumpang sekaki hehe.

4 Months Fetal Development..

My wife is 4 months pregnant now and her condition seems better compared to the early stages of her pregnancy, in fact better during this Ramadhan, Alhamdulillah. Nothing much I can tell from the pregnancy experience as she is the one who is pregnant hehe. But the difference that I can see within myself is I tend to help her more compared when she is not pregnant such as in the kitchen etc. Besides that, she do crave for some food but it's not that bad as she can let go when she realised that it is not possible to get it here. Next week will be our first meeting with the midwife. The midwife will be responsible to take care or give advices to us throughout this remaining months until the labour process.

I always interested to know what is happening in the uterus, how is the development of my baby until now. When I see my wife's tummy I can't see anything different yet, its just the same as before hehe. To know what is happening inside I browse the internet for information. Below is one of the information I got.

Your baby is now covered with a layer of thick, downy hair called lanugo. His eyes are facing forward now and he begins to blink. By the end of the month, he will be 5 inches long crown to rump, weighing in at 5 ounces. His body is now growing faster than his head and his finger and toe prints have developed. He can now suck his thumb and is actively swallowing amniotic fluid and passing it as urine. He is beginning to make practice breathing movements. The placenta is fully functional and provides nourishment and oxygen to your baby. If you are having a girl, her uterus has formed and her ovaries are equipped with primitive egg cells. Your baby’s bones are harder and his arms and legs are moving. You may even feel that thrilling first kick this month (source: smartmomma.com)

Subhanallah, this is very amazing ! Read the last sentence "You may even feel that thrilling first kick". That is really exciting. Stay healthy my baby !

I Can See The Baby !!

Last Monday 10 August 2009, my wife and I went to Gentofte Hospital for the first scan of the baby. I was quite nervous as that day was the moment of truth whether the baby is normal or not. I read some experiences in the internet about some bad news from the first scan. But at the same time I was excited to see the baby and to know whether it's a twin or not hehe as we are hoping that it would be twin hehe.

During the scan, I was very exticed to see the baby. I can see the baby's hands, legs, nose bone, the baby's brain and his/her heart's pumping. It was very exciting as I can even see the baby moving. Alhamdulillah the nurse told us that everything is normal. Until then, we are looking forward for our next scan in 8 more weeks to know the gender !.
